Paula Lehtonen was born in Kemi, Finland in 1983. She completed a BA in fine arts at the Polytechnic of Tampere (TTVO) in 2008. Currently she is doing a master's degree at the Media Lab, Aalto University.
She is mainly working with spatial video and installations. The works are often dealing with the clash of technology centered societies and human's primitive desire for nature. Irony and humor is also often present.
Lehtonen is also a part of the XXX-performance group (the others: Eero Yli-Vakkuri, Inga Mustakallio, Pekka Ruuska) that creates durational site-specific series of small performances. They have been seen perforrming at Anti!, Europe Mania at Pécs and the Troubles festival for live arts, Brussels.
Her recent works have been seen in exhibitions in Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova museum, Myymälä2, Huoltamo, and Titanik galleries and she has performed as a VJ in major finnish clubs and festivals such as Flow and Pixelache and as a video designeres in theaters and the field of contemporary dance.
